Week in review

OK, so I am back at home in good old Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Home sweet home and I must say I am so happy to be here.  So to get you caught up for the week I've missed on my regular blogging here is the week in review from this week on the road.

As we all know Joan Rivers passed from this world into the next one.  I didn't like her voice much but loved her humor.  It just seemed to flow and be sincerely funny.  I can't help but wonder who's entertaining the good Lord more, her or Robin Williams. 

It was hard on the road to keep up with everything in my girly world but I wouldn't miss New York Fashion Week for anything!  Then to boot, here's a wonderful article on how to get great skin for Fashion Week.

I did a lot of following blogs and list to stay updated and this one in particular made it a breeze to cover the latest buzz on everything happening during the week of September 1 - 6.

I learned that Ashley Simpson got married to the son of Diana Ross.  I must have been sleeping because I had no idea she wasn't with Pete anymore!   Well this article sums it up.   I'll just ignore the ugly ones out there right now about Ashley living in Jessica's shadow.

Welcome to Carmel, CA

Good morning from Carmel, CA!

This morning I woke up to Carmel-by-the-Sea.  Starting off with breakfast in the square. 

Can I please just stay here forever?!?!

A nice little fire by my breakfast table in a town where the high is 67 degrees at the end of summer.  So if you visit this amazing little town be sure to bring a light jacket or scarf.

Time to walk it off.  Came to "The Pine Inn", which was just beautiful.  We met the sweetest woman that explained to us the history of the hotel.  It was actually moved by log and wagon to the place it is now in 1903.  This is a perfect place to stay on your visit.  

Walking through the square you see sculptures everywhere.  This one I thought was the sweetest.  Carmel is such a romantic place.  You just hve to see it to believe it. 

Carmel is loaded with a million art galleries and specialty shops from clock making to high end retail like Rolex.  It also sits extremely close to Pebble Beach so perfect for the ladies to shop while the men play golf, or vice versa if you like. 

These tiny little alley ways are full of art and magical pathways.  I couldn't help but think my sister Denise would absolutely love this town! 

I threw this pic in because it really shows the diversity here and it's uniqueness.  You rent a miniature room to stay in or a historical high end hotel.  No matter where you stay in Carmel your good. 

I had to see the Mission at Carmel.  I have been studying the Essene tradition and this particular mission is part of that.  Such rich beautiful history.  If you visit, it's worth a look see.  Ps. It is also a catholic school so you can view the grounds while the students are in class.  What an awesome school to go to!

Interesting fact:  this mission has been personally visited and blessed by the Pope.

I may not be catholic but I am very Jesus and very Essene.  I lit these bottom three candles for my babies and loved ones. Always say your prayers every chance you get, they move energy.

Now I wish I could continue the west coast road trip and show you my favorite places in the San Fran area but time is running out.  There's so much more (San Fran, Little Italy, China Town, Point Reyes National Seashore, Nappa and Redding), that will have to wait until another trip.  We are heading back to Phoenix to catch our flight by the end of the week.  Stay tuned though because I promise to blog Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, and Sedona.  The perfect end to our road madness.  Love y'all! 

Big Sur to Monterey

Good morning everyone!  

It was nice to get out of LA and headed to final destination BIG SUR!  As we drove up Hwy 1 to San Luis Obispo we took a local road and ended up here.  It was a local beach for dogs.  You should have seen the excitement they had.  I laughed and felt so good watching their little spirits be so childlike.  I love that they have their own beach!  

We headed on into San Luis Obispo and found the most lovely town ever!  This little shop is called "The House of Bamboo."  This little shop was full of unique gifts, hemp and new-age trinkets.  We picked up somethings for the girls here.

We met the shop keeper and she was such a delightful, happy person that we had to include her in the blog.  It is hard to find such happy people in the world.  

Walking through the neighborhood, every town has to have a gum wall!  It actually looked like art but didn't smell too good, lol

I love small towns that have a historical square.  San Luis Obispo is absolutely one of the most relaxed, romantic small towns I have ever been to!  If your looking for a place to vacation, this town is a definite yes!

I picked up these lovely hand made natural stone earrings.  The town is full of handmade gift boutiques, organic eateries and new-age healing stores.

Next stop MORRO BAY!  Morro Bay is a small fishing town with this sacred rock.  The natives are the only ones allowed to climb the rock to hold an annual celebration of the hawk and the raven defeating the sea monster.  (You can read more about it on wikipedia.org)

Driving on up the coast I had to post a few pics of our rest stops.

We made it to another favorite spot called "Ragged Rock."  This is one of my favorite places on earth.  I came through here many years ago and have returned three times.  I even brought my babies here because I felt it to be such a magical place.  You can stay here in one of the rooms.  They have a restaurant and yoga.  Check out these pics of Ragged Rock. 

Our journey continues to Big Sur.  We say goodbye for now to the wide open rocky coastline.  We will see you again soon,

As we entered the park at Big Sur we were met with friendly wilflife.  Such a cute deer.  I just hope the native mountain lions aren't so friendly.

This is Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur.  The trees here are enormous.  Though it seemed there had been a fire and some of the trees were damaged.  Dre tells me that fire opens the kernal for new trees to be born and we did see baby saplings all around the burned trees.  Sure hope he's right!

This is just an example of how big the trees are here.  You can see on the inside of the tree where the fire damaged it.  

I married a hippy boy, he's sending love and energy to the mama trees.

See Ya LA!

Happy Labor Day Everyone!
I am up early again restless and ready to see more of the world in California.  Yesterday was a really long eventful day.  How nice it was to wake up with the gentle sunshine of 80 degrees.  Definately a flip flop day and woo hoo, let this day begin!

The journey began in a town called Riverside.  It actually felt really nice and homey.  It was beautiful!  We drove around for a minute and checked out the area.  Here are a few pics of what we found.

Hitting the hwy up 101, we wanted to check out Huntington beach.  The weather was amazing and everyone in that area had not a care in the world.  The only drawback to this area was of course, the traffic.  Seems everybody and their monkeys uncle gravitate to this wide open beautiful area.  Check out the pics below... can you really blame them?  

Driving on, HELLO LOS ANGELES!!!!

I learned that down town LA is not the most ideal location to be in.  It is much like the wild Wild West!  So, if your traveling through and think, "hey, lets check out down-town LA."  Just don't!!!
You see a few homeless people in Atlanta but nothing like here.  I couldn't believe with the amount of wealth here in this town, these people were so forgotten.  It was pitiful really.

 What I did find to my liking in down-town was the cool art that seemed to medicate much of the landscape.

Headed to BEVERLY HILLS!!!

 This pic was taken up on the hills near the Hollywood sign.  This is their observatory.

On these streets you see so many famous people! Hello Darth Vador!

You can take the boy out of the south, but not the south out of the boy!  For those of you that know Dre...this is him haggling with a vendor over a star map.  We checked out a few star homes like Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and to be honest, they don't really live like you think they would.

This is on Rodeo Drive, which was really nice but the energy of Beverly Hills is very flashy and not too down to earth.  Passing others on the street smelled like the perfume counter at Saks! Me being a smell whore and all, I did like that part.  

On the road again and headed up to Malibu.  Ok, now we are talking!  Malibu is more like Northern Cali before it gets chilly.  It is probably my favorite area of Southern California.  Surfing is everywhere, happy people and the cutest little local shops you could imagine.

This is an area called Point Mugu State Park.  Dre and I hiked the sand Dune.  The view of the Pacific was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

When in California, eat like the Califorians.  Time to stop for some lunch and a pee break.

 Time to call it the day.  Embassy Suites is calling my name!  Tomorrow is a big day as we are headed to one of our most favorite places... BIG SUR!  Until then, love yall!
